The Karen P. Nakon Breast Cancer Foundation was established on February 22, 2003, Karen’s 38th birthday, to honor her graceful and courageous five-year battle against breast cancer.  The primary objectives of The Foundation are to fund breast cancer research and to help families endure the staggering cost of treatment.  With the help of friends and family, The Foundation got off to a great start in 2003 

    Support for the Foundation's work comes from two key fundraisers that the Foundation supports, our annual golf outing held in August each year and our annual Turkey Dash 5k race held on Thanksgiving morning.     In addition to events, the Nakon Foundation receives support from the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio.  These funds are raised through community support and the proceeds from the pink ribbon license plate initiative.
